| Any sun cream left over can be used as a body lotion if you don't want to keep it till the next year. Once opened, sun cream deteriorates and loses its protective qualilities, yet retains its moisturizing ingredients.
For extra protection during summer, choose a foundation cream containing a sun cream.
Make a sunscreen lotion at home. Extract the juice of one medium-sized cucumber, add half tablespoon each of glycerin, water and milk, and refrigerate.
To make a natural astringent lotion, mix together one teaspoon of peach juice, half a teaspoon of carrot juice and a quarter teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply on face and neck and leave for 1 5 minutes. This will tighten the skin without robbing it of its natural oils.
An effective substitute for cold cream is equal parts of lemon juice and glycerin mixed together.
Soak two tablespoons of oatmeal overnight. In the morning, mix it with one tablespoon lemon juice, half a teaspoon each of diluted ammonia, olive oil, rose water, glycerin and four tablespoons of warm water. An excellent hand lotion.
Another effective lotion is a mixture of three tablespoons rose water, two tablespoons lemon juice and one tablespoon glycerin.
Mix together two and a half teaspoons each of honey, glycerin and barley powder, one egg white, and four tablespoons of rose water, into a thick paste. It is good for the hands.
Use generously on hands the paste made of one and a half teaspoon each of almond oil and petroleum jelly, one teaspoon lemon pulp, two and a half teaspoons each of glycerin and lemon juice.
Prepare a rich conditioning cream by combining 125 gms lard, one tablespoon each of honey, ground almonds and rose water, six drops of almond essence, and two yolks.
